Delos, a small island near Mykonos--and a popular day trip--is no longer inhabited, but it is still one of the most important historical and mythological sites in all of Greece. Visiting the Delos ruins really hammers home just how advanced the Greeks were for their time. The impressive mosaics, along with remnants of buildings, monuments, and aqueducts, paint a picture of how monumentally developed they were for an early civilization.
