Monument Valley, UT (Navajo Nation Tribal Park)

When I hear the name Monument Valley, it conjures up in my head images of old western films. In real life, the scenery is even more beautiful. The reds of the valley in the late afternoon sun--and at sunset--are truly spectacular. Photographs don't even do it justice. I was sad that when we visited that the Navajo Nation was (understandably) still closed due to Covid, so we were not permitted to venture down into the valley. It has been on my bucket list for a long time. We stayed at the only hotel on property (The View Hotel), though, so we could at least see some of the valley's most famous rock formations from our balcony, the hotel grounds, and the surrounding roads. The left and right mittens (left and center formations) were my favorite. Someday, maybe I'll be lucky enough to go back and see the valley in full. (Monument Valley has reopened as of July 8th.)
