Milan’s Duomo may have the single-most fanciful rooftop in Italy. It’s definitely the most unique--you can wander across the famous church's rooftop, taking it in from above, as well as below. Covered in white marble, the detailed buttresses seem to stretch on and on to infinity. The rooftop was a joy to explore, talking pictures, peeking through different openings and arches, and examining little sculptures dotting the tops of spires and columns.
