Horseshoe Bend is an iconic image of the American southwest. The day we visited, it was 108 degrees F, and there was a heat advisory in effect.* The sun was brutal (we took it slow and had plenty of water). Despite the heat, it was worth the 1.5 mile hike to see this landmark in the later afternoon. The sun was perfectly positioned to get a great shot of the Colorado River circling the rock formation below us!
*Disclaimer: I don't recommend anyone hike in this level of heat unless you are experienced, have no underlying medical conditions, and bring plenty of water--listen to your body! We saw quite a few people struggling in these temperatures.
