The principality of Monaco is less than a square mile–one of the smallest “countries” in the world. When people think of Monaco, most automatically conjure up images of Monte Carlo. However, while Monte Carlo is the most famous district of Monaco, the tiny country is actually split into 3 separate parts. The second most famous, Monaco-Ville, is where this picture was taken. Monaco-Ville houses the government buildings and main cathedral (as well as Princess Grace Kelly’s final resting place). The yachts dotting the harbor, which can just barely be made out from this picture, are among the largest in the world. While it may seem odd to find so many yachts in such a small place, Monaco is known as a tax haven for the rich and famous, notoriously known as "the sunny place for shady people."
