Lantau Island is one of the many island that make up Hong Kong. It is home to Hong Kong Disney and Hong Kong’s Airport. However, it is mostly known for being under-developed and having beautiful beaches and forests. The island is also famous for the Giant Buddha that resides at the top of one of its peaks. You can spend a very long day hiking up (and up and up) to it or you can take a 25 min cable car ride. This picture was taken from the cable car. It was one of my first sightings of the buddha. I don’t know if the picture truly gives you an appreciation for how large the statue is, but it was quite spectacular in person.
