Hotel La Llave de la Judería (formerly Hospederia de El Churrasco) (Lodging)

Location: The hotel was located right near the center of town, yet slightly out of the way so you weren’t in the middle of the tourist crush. It was definitely in easy walking distance of everything. (Take a taxi from the train station–I would say it’s too far to walk.)
Overall: After doing a lot of research on places to stay, I was definitely not disappointed with this little boutique hotel. The common areas in the hotels were very comfortable and well-decorated. I felt that the owners had paid thorough attention to detail both in the common rooms and in our hotel room (it reminded me of a mix between a B&B and a hotel with all of the personal touches). The included breakfast was delicious and had plenty of options. They offered to let us eat it in the breakfast room or to order whatever we wanted to have brought to our room’s patio at a time we picked (cereals, eggs to order, fruit, yogurt, meat and cheese, juices, breads, jams, tea/coffee, etc). We ate out on our room’s little terrace and it was the perfect way to spend a relaxing morning planning out the day ahead.
Hotel Staff: The person on duty behind the desk when we were there was extremely friendly and helpful. She gave us a city map, a useful list of hours for the city sights, ideas for what we should be sure to see when in the city, a menu to select from for breakfast if we wanted room service in the morning (included in our rate), and in general offered any help we may need. When we checked out, she also called a taxi for us to get to the train station (which arrived quickly). Definitely great service!
Room: When we arrived, we were told the hotel was closing for the month of August to do some repairs and updates to the hotel starting the next day (day of our check-out), so they were not that full and had upgraded us to a nicer room free of charge (the name on our room was Julio Romero de Torres). Our room was really nice and spacious with a little balcony overlooking the courtyard that we ate the included breakfast on. The bathroom was large, clean, and very nice, as well. The room also had a computer with free internet access which was a huge plus (we actually ended up watching some tv shows we found on the internet in English that night which was a nice change from Spanish tv or the English news channels). Overall, no complaints!
