Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet (Versailles, France)

Versailles is the largest and grandest palace in all of Europe. The huge, sumptuous, cold-feeling palace contrasts sharply with Marie Antoinette’s idealized, cozy little hamlet. It is hands-down my favorite spot in Versailles. Looking at her beautiful country buildings surrounded by water teeming with fish and fields of grazing sheep, you can still sense her homesickness for Austria. Anyone who craved this cozy spot over a grand palace couldn’t have been all bad.
