Berlin is a vibrant, modern city that is enjoyable to take in at night on any regular occasion. However, while I was there, I was lucky enough to happen upon an annual festival that takes place in the city called the Festival of Lights. For a few days each October, the city lights up its most famous buildings and monuments with colored lights. You can wander around the city center--much of which is pedestrianized for the occasion--taking in some of its most famous buildings like you've never seen them before. I found the Brandenburg Gate (pictured here) to be particularly spectacular given both its beautiful architecture and its historical significance to the city.EndFragment
