Changing of the Guard at La Citadelle (Quebec City, Canada)

01.03.2016 – The Changing of the Guard at La Citadel in Quebec City is a highlight of any visit. It rivals the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace with all of the pomp and circumstance surrounding it–even their mascot the goat gets in on the action! Situated high above the city, even in early July it was freezing at the ceremony, but the ceremony that takes place across the parade grounds with the Chateau Frontenac in the background is not to be missed. After, the only way to wander the grounds (and take in some of the most commanding views available over the city) is on a tour which we found worthwhile. Be sure to purchase your tickets for the tour upon arrival. Finally, before leaving, check out the “I Remember” exhibit and Hall of Medals to pay homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed so much in the name of freedom. The changing of the Guard takes place daily at 10am from June 24 until the first Monday in September.
