Generalife Gardens in the Alhambra (Granada, Spain)

Spain- Granada- Generalife Gardens Fountain 1

1.1.2013- Happy New Year!!!  I thought this photo of the Generalife Gardens in the Alhambra in Granada, Spain was an appropriate way in which to ring in the new year.  The garden were originally built by the Moors (Muslims), and much of it focuses around fountains and greenery.  Muslims hold that water is the source of all life and something to be celebrated.  Living in many areas in which it was scarce, they learned to have an even higher appreciation for it than their European neighbors.  Starting a new year, it seems only appropriate to start back with basics.
