Gorlitz Square (Gorlitz, Germany)

11.30.2012- Gorlitz is a small, colorful city on the outskirts of Germany.  If you cross the bridge on the edge of town, you can walk right into Zgorzelec, Poland.  If you arrive early in the day, you can see most of the quiet city sans tourists.  The ciy has some interesting architectural features, a church worth visiting, and some very photogenic towers that are still intact from a time when towers were still needed for protection rather than decoration.  It’s worth a few hours if you’re not going well out of your way to visit.
