Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet (Versailles, France)

11.5.2012- Versailles is the largest and grandest palace in all of Europe.  The huge, sumptuous, cold-feeling palace contrasts sharply with Marie Antoinette’s idealized, cozy little hamlet.  It is hands-down my favorite spot in Versailles.  The beautiful country buildings surrounded by water teeming with fish and fields of grazing sheep reflect her homesickness for Austria.  Anyone who loved this location over a grand palace couldn’t have been all bad.
