Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest (Obersalzberg, Germany)

11.4.2012- Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest–or Obersalzberg as it is known to the Germans–was Hitler’s vacation home in the mountains.  Getting there is an adventure in itself.  You take a specially made bus up the side of the mountain, walk into a tunnel and take an elevator up the center of the last leg of the mountain, and come out in a challet.  The challet may not be original, but the fireplace still is–you can see the spots where American soldiers chipped off parts to take home as souveniers.  The real reason you go up here, however, is for the spectacular views!
