The Rock of Gibraltar (Gibraltar)

10.13.2012- The Rock of Gibraltar–you read about it everywhere from the Bible to ancient Greek Mythology.  I didn’t even know where it was until I was planning a recent trip to Spain and read about it in my guide book.  So, of course, I had to see it.  The rock itself is quite impressive.  Gibraltar is interesting with its spot of Britain in the middle of Spain.  It was a bit odd, though, to be speaking Spanish to my bus driver one minute as we approached the border and then getting off, walking a few feet, and getting on a different bus and speaking English with that one.  While we couldn’t get to the very top (the cable cars were closed due to high winds–incidentally we didn’t even feel a breeze while there), we took a taxi up to as high as it was allowed to take us.  I did get to feed the monkeys, though (not advised, but fun).
