Old Bridge (Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

10.1.2012- Little Bosnia and Herzegovina has a sad recent history.  The tiny city of Mostar went through a terribly destructive war in the 1990s.  Its historic old bridge (pictured here) was shelled repeatedly until it fell.  It was the symbol of the city representing the bridging of east and west.  Rebuilt after the war with the same materials and methods it was built with over 400 years ago, it stands as a symbol today of peace and a hopeful future for the country and its people.
